Happy Summer!
Well the school year is officially over.  I want to thank you for all the support throughout the school year and the well wishes with my maternity leave.  I know that can be tough.  It was great having your families and children as part of my class this year.  Good luck next year and have a fantastic summer!

Here are a few pictures of the fun shaving cream activity we did to bring our school year to an end. :)

The Final Three Days

We're down to the final few days of school.  A few things to note...

  1. Please continue to send your child to school with their backpacks through the last day of school.  They will be clearing out their desks and bringing items home each day.
  2. Your child will bring home their final report card and next year's placement/supply list on Wednesday; please watch for these items.
  3. Wednesday is an early release - school will be out at 1:15pm.
  4. The computer lab will be open this summer for those students who wish to take extra AR tests: June 12, 14, 19, 21, and August 13, 15, 20 and 22.

Last week we had a lot of fun.  I have been enjoying the biography presentations thus far.  The students have put a lot of time, effort, and energy into their reports.
Some of our "famous guests" have been: Sacajawea,
Queen Elizabeth I,
Elvis,
Amelia Earhart,

 Babe Ruth,
Leonardo deVinci,
Annie Oakley,
and Johnny Depp!

On Thursday, we celebrated our May and Summer birthdays with an ice cream party, and learned a bit about air pressure with our Wind Bags.   More interesting than the science lesson, however, were the things that could be done with inflated Wind Bags!

We ended our week with a Field Day on Friday (where we played in the sun, and some of us got SOAKED!) followed by our Second Grade BBQ.  Many thanks to Rochelle Strait for organizing this event and to all our parent volunteers who donated their time to cook and/or supervise our children.

After our fun in the sun, we settled in to watch a movie and cool down.  A small handful of us even took a nap!

Mrs. Fredrickson will return tomorrow to teach the class for these final three days.  I loved the time I spent with your children, and I thank you all for your time spent helping me acclimate to the classroom and doing all the little things!  I wish each of you a fun and memorable summer.  Good Luck in Third Grade!
