Coupons

We will be doing our last coupon banking on Monday afternoon, June 6th.  Please make sure to send in all coupon papers that you may have at home by that Monday morning.

Up and Coming

Just a reminder that next week there is no school on Monday.  Biography projects are all due on Wednesday, which includes the Biography Information Sheet and the notecards.  Students will need to bring their "costumes" and props for their presentations on the day that they will be presenting.  Please see the previous posting for this schedule.  Friday is field day in the morning and our end of the year party from 11:15-1:30.  Please let me know if you are able to volunteer for either of us.

Animal Ark Highlights

They were excellent listeners even though they could barely contain the excitement that Effie was right around the corner.

Here she is!!  She had a little bit of "bed head" since she was in between her winter and summer coats.  Our guide, June, was nice enough to call someone who went in and woke Effie up for us.  She ran up to the fence and then proceeded to prance back and forth the entire time we were there (Effie that is, not June).  The kids were so excited.

We had such a wonderful time at the animal sanctuary.  The kids were wiped out, a few even managed to sleep the entire way back to school.

Field Trip Friday

Our Animal Ark field trip is on Friday.  Make sure to read the blue note that went home today!  There are lots of important things in the note including information about arriving to school early, lunches and the gift shop.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Book Order Extension

I extended the book orders over the weekend in case there were some of you who were not able to send them in.  I noticed that the online ordering was set to close on Friday so if you tried to place an online order over the weekend it may not have let you.  I just changed to online order close date to tomorrow, May 17th.  If you'd like to place an online order you may still do so until tomorrow.  Thanks!!

Biography Presentations

Here is the tentative schedule for the biography presentations.  Please let me know if you'd like to come in and see your child's presentation.  If the time below doesn't work you we can move somet things around.  The schedule is tentative and the times could be moved around a little to allow for flexibility in presentation lengths, student wiggles and other unexpected things that always seem to pop up :)  There is a chance that some students may end up doing their presentations on Monday, June 6th if they end up running long.  There will be no presentations on Friday, June 3rd due to field day and our end of the year party.

The Run Down

As the last few weeks are school are upon us those calendars begin to fill up! Here are some upcoming important dates to take note of:

• Friday, May 13th: Field trip money and forms are due
• Friday, May 13th: Pictures and/or picture money is due
• Friday, May 13th: Last bookorder of the year is due
• Friday, May 13th: Last day for students to earn AR points for this spring AR store (points earned after this date will go towards the store in the fall).
• Sunday, May 15th: CRES Book Fair at Barnes and Noble
• Monday, May 16th: WCSD night at Aces Game
• Friday, May 20th: 2nd grade field trip to Animal Ark.  If you'd like to chaperone please notify me by the 13th.
• Monday, May 23rd: AR store begins ( we will go during our library time this week)
• Monday, May 23rd: All library books are due back to the library
• Monday, May 30th: No School for Memorial Day
• Wednesday, June 1st: Biograpy Book Projects are due.  All students must turn in their note cards and biography information sheet by this date.  Some students will be presenting on this day and can bring/wear their outfits.  Others will present on Thursday.  I have the schedule and will post it soon.
• Friday, June 3rd: Field Day 9:00-11:30.  We will need a couple helpers for this.  Please let me know if you're able to help.
• Friday, June 3rd: 2nd grade End of the Year Party at the park 11:30-1:30.  Information will be going home soon.
• Wednesday, June 8th: Last Day of School

Biographies

Our last book project for the year went home on Monday this week and it is a biography.  There is a typo in the text of the directions on the yellow page.  The projects are due on June 1st; however, the presentations will be June 1st-3rd, not April 12th as the paper states.  A new pink paper will be going home tomorrow with the correct dates.  Students will need to have their note cards and information sheet on their famous person ready to turn in on June 1st.  I will be creating a schedule for presentations in order to know which day your child will present so they do not have to come dressed in or bring their outfit/props with them each day that week.  Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to come and watch your child so we can coordinate scheduling.

Also, students have been told that they will be able to make a change of famous person up until Monday, May 9th.  They will need to "okay" it with me in order to make sure that no one else in our class has chosen that person.  They must also have the book to use for that new person ( I have some books in class they could use as well).

Book Order

It's time for our last book order of the year.  The pamphlets are being sent home this Friday in Friday Folders.  The orders may also be placed here online.  Our class code for online orders is FMYFK.  All orders are due by the morning of Friday the 13th.
