Solar Grasshoppers

Last Friday we were lucky enough to have Paul's parents come in and do a fun activity with solar powered grasshoppers.

The students followed the directions in order to build their grasshoppers.

And then...Ta-Da! They were done!

Now it was time to go outside and try them out.

Time for some grasshopper races and even some grasshopper hair-do's.

It was quite the fun afternoon!

Spell-a-Thon

Just a reminder that all Spell-a-Thon envelopes are due back this Friday.  The students will be taking the Spell-a-Thon spelling test as well on the regular class test this Friday.

Holiday Party

I hope you have been your enjoying your break and had wonderful and restful holidays.  Here are some of the highlights from the school holiday party...

The candy store was all ready for the eager shoppers.

Here they come!

A little inspiration....Quentin's spelling homework. :)

Let the decorating begin!

They're SO excited!

They're lookin' good!

Some of the finished products...

The gift exchange.

The kids had so much fun.  Thank you to everyone for helping out with the party and the "candy store".  We couldn't have done it without you!

Owl Pellets

Last Thursday we dissected sterilized owl pellets in class from barn owls.  The kids loved it!  There was definitely some apprehension before we started, but once they dug in they were hooked.  It was so great to see how excited they were when finding bones and identifying which animal they may have belonged to.
